Our Mission

The truck accessory market is full of money. That money attracts a lot of bad reviews — listicles built around the highest affiliate payout, "tests" that are really just product photos, and rankings nobody actually verified by using the products.

BTA exists to be the honest middle. We test products in our own trucks. We rank them based on real-world performance. And when something doesn't work, we say so — even if it's the most popular product in the category.

What We Don't Do

We don't accept paid placements. No brand has ever paid to be ranked #1 on this site. No brand will. Our editorial independence is the only thing that makes our rankings worth reading.

We don't run "sponsored content." Every product on every list is here because we tested it. If we were paid to publish something, we'd put it on a billboard, not pretend it was a review.

We don't rank products we haven't used. If a category has 200 products and we tested 76, our ranking is of those 76. We won't list a product based on its spec sheet.

How We Test

Most of our team owns trucks they actually use — for work, for off-road, for daily driving, for towing, for hauling. When we test a product, we install it the way an owner would install it, use it the way an owner would use it, and live with it for as long as it takes to know whether it actually works.

For wear-and-tear products like floor mats, bed liners, and tonneau covers, that means months of real use across weather and seasons. For one-time-install products like hitches and toolboxes, that means stress-testing under real loads. For specialty gear like recovery and off-road equipment, that means actually getting stuck and using the gear to get out.

Our Editorial Standards

Hands-on testing. Every product we rank, we install, use, and abuse.

Disclosure of test conditions. If we tested a product over a weekend versus six months, we say so.

Updates and corrections. Products change. Our rankings update. If we got something wrong, we say that too.

No surprises. If we have any commercial relationship with a manufacturer beyond purchasing their product for testing, we disclose it.

The People

BTA's editorial team is made up of working pros — contractors, off-road guides, fleet managers, and lifelong truck owners. We don't have a styled photo studio or a YouTube channel with bumper music. We have trucks, projects, deadlines, and an obsession with gear that actually works.

The Big Picture

Trucks are tools. The accessories you put on them either make them better tools or they don't. We help you figure out which is which, and we save you the cost of finding out the wrong way.

Independence Pledge

No Paid Placements. Ever.

If a manufacturer ever pays us to publish something, we'll close the website. Our rankings are worth reading because they aren't for sale.
